Good Day everyone!
Things are changing for the region- The MICRON announcement has the potential to transform this region whether we like it or not. West Monroe is in ground zero for an influx of resident housing, both single and multiple family housing, to handle the construction workers of both MICRON and the 81 project. We are completing a joint economic plan with Central Square, Constantia & Cleveland. Public hearing tonight at A.A. Cole 7PM.
We have a new highway superintendent, Michael Walker and a new assessor David Peel. They both come with alot of enthusiasm.
The town was able to secure two grants, one for 25K to install an informational sign at the town hall. The other was for 160K to purchase a new plow truck and continue our life cylcle schedule for our equipment.
I hope everyone noticed the towns tax rate for the general fund is now under 1 dollar per thousand and the highway dropped by 50 cents per 1000 to under 3 dollars.
